Equipments

We, at Dr. Balabhai Nanavati Hospital have traditionally provided the community with the latest medical technology. In keeping with this spirit we are proud to introduce computed radiography (Digital radiography). We have installed an Agfa ADC Solo computerized radiography unit with the latest laser camera and processor.

The X-ray department has acquired the computed radiography (digital radiography) equipment, and has installed an Agfa ADC Solo computerized radiography unit with the latest laser camera and processor.

This technology will serve to consistently provide high-quality digital X-rays. Another attractive feature of this unit will be the recording of full spine and full lower limb radiography, on a single film. This technology, accompanied by our newly acquired high-end image intensifier equipped X-ray machines, will ensure a consistent quality of service. The department also has the latest portable machines for taking digital X-rays in the wards.

Our 24 hours Services provides Pathology Diagnostic Services of highest quality. In addition our educational systems teach Residents and Fellows and foster the development of leaders in pathology and related fields.

In Dr. Balabhai Nanavati Hospital, the central Laboratory’s primary focus is in providing diagnostic facility to the in-patient & out–patient department (OPD) and our Corporate Clients.

In September 2011, the hospital signed an agreement with M/s. MDI India Pvt. Ltd. representing Medizinisch – Diagnostische Institute GmbH – MVZ, Berlin, Germany – MDI is one of the largest clinical laboratories located in Berlin, Germany with the workload of around a million tests in a year.

Our fully renovated 24 hours laboratory has the state of the art technology in Clinical chemistry, Hemato-pathology, Microbiology, Clinical pathology helping our patients with accurate results in minimal TAT (Turn Around Time).

Central Laboratory:

We have the sophisticated systems from:

Johnson and Johnson- Vitros 5600 with enhanced Chemiluminiscence technology with more than 100 assays on board for the Biochemistry & Immunology.

The Vitros 5600 is backed up by Vitros 250 Chemistry analyzer and Vitros ECi for specialty immunodiagnostic testing. All the systems are connected by a highly sophisticated Laboratory Management System (LMS) and barcode facility to eliminate any Pre/Post - Analytical errors.

Roche Cobas e-411 with Electro-Chemiluminiscence system for highly specialize and sensitive Immunology & Tumor Marker tests. We have facility for stat /urgent reporting on all our systems.

Critical Care :

Blood Gas Testing:

The recently implemented new blood gas analyzer- Radiometer ABL 800 allows us to assay several specimens simultaneously and perform quality control automatically at pre-determined intervals. We use the new instrument to streamline our rapid blood gas testing using arterial syringes, which are pre-bar-coded. The IL Gem Premier 3000 Blood Gas cum Electrolyte Analyser is available as a Back-up system.

Electrolytes :
Apart from Vitros 5600 and Vitros 250 we have two additional electrolyte analysers Roche 9180 and Transasia Easylyte Plus to take care of our extensive workload.

Hematopathology :
The state of the art technology “ABX Pentra DX120 Hematology Analyser” with throughput of 120 tests/hour, wide menu of 49 parameters and an Expert validation system aids treating physicians, oncologists, and hematologists as well as pathologists confronted with difficult diagnostic problems in leukemia and lymphoma.  With % and Absolute Differentials and Retic count the system is a one point unit for Hematologists. .The Transasia-KX XT 2000 and standby system KX -21 serves our need for the high throughput in the laboratory.

Microbiology:  The Medical Microbiology Laboratory has extensive experience developing, conducting, and interpreting tests for patients with viral, bacterial, fungal, and parasitic infections, and for those prone to infections, such as cancer and AIDS patients.

We have the fully automated Bact/Alert 3D from Biomerieux. Microbiological testing of bacterial cultures, fungal cultures etc. is carried out taking utmost precautions by handling the samples carefully and preventing contamination of the samples. Sub-cultures and biochemical tests for identification of organisms is also done in microbiology department.  For patients not responding well to the treatment for infection by acid-fast bacilli, we culture AFB with Anti-TB drugs.

For hospitals and other laboratories who need more specialized services we offer  our testing and consulting services, and we work with physicians seeking help in diagnosing and treating complex or unusual conditions. Additionally, the lab conducts testing for clinical trials for pharmaceutical companies and/or academic researchers.

Specialised Investigations :
BIORAD D-10 Hemoglobin Testing System:  Compact fully automated system for comprehensive, diabetes monitoring (Glycosylated Hemoglobin) and β-Thalassemia testing on a single platform with special STAT sample processing.
Specialized tests like ANA, ds-DNA, Western blot, Stool fat analysis, Protein electrophoresis, VMA etc. are performed at regular intervals.
